This project consists of the relocation of Channel 7 Perth Television Media Studios from their former site in Dianella to the head offices of the West Australian Newspaper (WAN) in Osborne Park. The scope also includes a 43m high steel framed communications tower on the accessible concrete roof of the main Studio structure, existing car park modifications and associated surrounding site upgrades.
The main design elements is the ‘concrete box’ studio located to the east of existing WAN South building, It is primarily constructed out of precast concrete panels patterned with “7” on the external facades. Fit out of the main Studio was completed by Channel 7. Fit out refurbishment works to the existing South building also formed part of the overall Studio relocation works. This was executed under the Interior scope package by Interior Consultant, separate from the base works.
Given the complex technical nature of this project, JCY Design team together with the Specialist Consultants liaised closely with the Client and Channel 7 Specialist Technical team during the design & documentation stages to ensure the required specification was sufficiently documented. As such, the project transitioned smoothly into Construction phase, the Design team and Contractor delivered this project successfully at the end of 2014. Channel 7 Perth occupied these new facilities shortly upon Practical Completion.
