Sustainability

As far back as 1999 JCY were leaders in environmentally sustainable design, winning the Western Australian Energy Efficiency Award for West Australian Newspapers House. Today, JCY remain leaders in this field, designing WA’s first GreenStar rated building, 167 Westralia Plaza, St Georges Tce, Perth.

Our Sustainability Statement outlines our belief that we can and should contribute to a cleaner, greener and altogether more sustainable society. This does not mean just meeting current environmental legislation, it means we strive to operate in an ethical manner across the whole of our business and actively look for ways to improve our environmental performance.

In 2007 we implemented our own Sustainability Program, designed to constantly assess our performance and ensure we do all we can in terms of sustainability both in the way we do business and the way our projects are designed and built.

In the office we look for and implement strategies to reduce waste and conserve energy. We foster an environment where awareness of sustainable practices is maintained amongst staff. In 2007 members of JCY planted some 2500 trees in an effort to offset our C02 emissions.

Sustainability is a key factor in the design process of all our projects and materials are selected for minimum impact on the environment in terms of production and embodied energy. Our architects are constantly looking for new ways to build sustainably in every aspect of the design and are experts in sustainable design principles and techniques.
